History Loves Company

Every Home Has a Story

Built on history. Driven by purpose. Focused on the homes — and the lives — that deserve to be preserved.

The story behind it

This started with one house

In 2017, Chris Hubel became a licensed realtor — and bought his first home in the same year. Not just any home, but a historic property in Pontiac’s Franklin Boulevard Historic District.

That house changed everything.

It wasn’t perfect. It needed work. But underneath it all was something you don’t find in new construction — character, craftsmanship, and a story worth uncovering. Restoring it wasn’t just about the property. It was about rebuilding something personally, too.

Through recovery and a commitment to sobriety, that process became bigger than real estate. It became purpose.

History Loves Company was built from that place — a brand rooted in preservation, storytelling, and helping others find homes that actually mean something.

The mission

Preserve what matters

Today, History Loves Company sits at the intersection of real estate, media, and preservation.

From historic homes across Metro Detroit to storytelling that reaches thousands online, the mission is simple — document what exists, protect what remains, and help people become part of something bigger than a transaction.

That mission is now expanding through initiatives like the Forever Home Project — an effort to preserve historically significant properties and protect them for future generations.

Because once these homes are gone, they’re gone.

And the stories go with them.

What makes this different

Where real estate meets storytelling

Historic focus

Not every home is the same. Historic homes require a different understanding of value, condition, and long-term potential.

Story-driven approach

The best homes are not just listed — they are positioned. Storytelling plays a major role in how buyers connect with a property.

Neighborhood-first thinking

The right home starts with the right place. Understanding neighborhoods is what makes the search more intentional.

Community and neighborhood

The bigger picture

This is about more than transactions

Real estate is one of the biggest decisions most people make. It should feel thoughtful, not rushed. It should feel intentional, not transactional.

Whether buying or selling, the focus is on helping people move with clarity — and making sure the outcome actually fits.

Experience

Built through real work, not just theory

Local expertise

Detroit, Pontiac, and Birmingham markets with a focus on historic housing stock.

Content-driven reach

Storytelling and media used to attract the right buyers and build long-term brand authority.

Proven results

Experience navigating both unique historic properties and competitive market conditions.

Next step

If this approach feels right, let’s talk.

The best way to understand if this is a fit is a simple conversation.
